Practitioner Authors
What We Provide
A dedicated editor works with you from proposal through final manuscript — sharpening your argument, strengthening your structure, and ensuring your expertise comes through with clarity and authority.
Hardcover design, typesetting, and print production that reflects the quality of your thinking. Laquilan Press books are built to sit on a client's desk, not a discount shelf.
Distribution through major trade channels, Amazon, and direct-to-professional networks. Your book reaches practitioners, decision-makers, and potential clients across your sector.
Launch strategy, speaking opportunity development, media outreach, and ongoing promotion through our professional networks. We treat your book as a long-term asset, not a one-time event.
Laquilan Press publishes practitioners, not academics. Our authors have spent careers doing the work — advising clients, leading firms, solving the problems their industries face. They write from experience, not theory.
Not sure if you qualify? If you have a perspective that your profession needs to hear — and the experience to back it up — we want to hear from you. The best proposals come from practitioners who have been asked the same question by clients for years and finally decided to write the answer down.
The Process
Send us a brief overview of your book concept — the problem it addresses, the audience it serves, and why you are the right person to write it. No full manuscript required at this stage.
Our editorial team reviews your proposal and responds within two weeks. If there is a fit, we schedule a conversation to explore the concept in depth.
We agree on scope, timeline, and terms. You begin writing with the support of your dedicated editor, who provides structural guidance and feedback throughout the process.
Once the manuscript is complete, our production team handles design, typesetting, and print. We coordinate your launch strategy to maximize impact at publication.

Common Questions
We publish rigorous, practitioner-authored books for professional services leaders in architecture, engineering, consulting, legal, finance, and technology sectors. Our books address business development, brand strategy, leadership, and practice management — written by senior practitioners for their peers.
We partner with senior practitioners who have deep, first-hand expertise in their field. The ideal author has 15 or more years of practice experience, a clear point of view that their profession needs to hear, and a platform or network within their industry. Academic authors without active practice experience are not a strong fit.
We review every proposal and respond within two weeks. If your proposal advances, we will schedule a conversation with our editorial team to discuss scope, audience, and fit before moving to a formal publishing agreement.
We provide full editorial development, professional design and typesetting, print and digital production, distribution through major channels including Amazon, and ongoing marketing support. Authors work closely with our editorial team throughout the process.
The timeline varies depending on manuscript length and the author's writing pace, but most books move from accepted proposal to publication in less than 12 months, depending on the author's manuscript development status. Our four-step process covers proposal review, editorial development, design and production, and launch.
We prefer to work from proposals rather than completed manuscripts, as our editorial process shapes the book from the ground up. If you have a completed manuscript, you are welcome to submit a proposal that describes the work — we will review it on the same basis as any other submission.
Tell us about your book. We review every proposal and respond within two weeks.
