We exist to give the most rigorous thinking in professional services the form it deserves — a well-made book, built to last, written by the practitioners who have earned the right to write it.
Our Story
Laquilan Press was founded on a simple observation: the most sophisticated thinking in professional services rarely makes it into print. The practitioners who have spent decades developing original frameworks, navigating complex client relationships, and building enduring firms are too busy doing the work to write about it — and when they do try, the mainstream publishing industry offers them little support.
General business publishers want broad audiences and celebrity authors. Self-publishing platforms offer production without editorial development. Neither serves the senior practitioner who has something genuinely important to say to a specific professional audience.
We built Laquilan Press to fill that gap. We are a specialist publisher — focused exclusively on professional services, committed to editorial rigor, and structured to give practitioner authors the development support, production quality, and distribution reach that their work deserves.
Our name reflects our conviction that the best professional services books are not collections of tips or anecdotes. They are architectures — carefully designed structures of argument, evidence, and insight that hold up under scrutiny and reward careful reading and inspire readers to seek new horizons, and reach new heights.
Editorial Philosophy
Every book we publish is written by someone who has done the work — not an academic studying it from the outside. We believe the most useful knowledge in professional services comes from practitioners who have spent careers solving real problems for real clients.
We publish a small number of books each year, deliberately. Each title receives the editorial attention it deserves — structural development, line editing, fact-checking, and production quality that reflects the seriousness of the subject matter.
The best practitioner books make an argument. They take a position, defend it with evidence and reasoning, and give readers something they can act on. We work with authors to develop the argument at the heart of their book before a word of the manuscript is written.
We treat publication as the beginning of a relationship, not the end of a transaction. Laquilan Press authors become part of a community of practitioners committed to advancing the intellectual life of their professions.
